2.5L 4D56 (common-rail turbo diesel)

high4D56 engine overheating (recall)

Look for: Mitsubishi issued service campaign 020116 in 2014 for 4D56HP engines. Repetitive coolant evaporation under heavy load (especially towing) plus poor head gasket sealing caused overheating.

If you find it: Updated radiator cap (127 kPa), 50% coolant concentration, new ECU programming, smoother cylinder block surface from March 2014 production. Verify recall completed.

high4D56 timing belt

Look for: Timing belt MUST be replaced at 100k. Failure = bent valves.

If you find it: Replace on schedule with quality kit (belt, tensioner, water pump).

From 100k km interval · ~$800-1500

medium4D56 injector failures

Look for: Common-rail injectors fail - smoke, knocking, poor running. Leaky nozzle nut contaminates oil with diesel.

If you find it: Injector set replacement. Use quality fuel.

From 120k+ km · ~$1800-3000

3.2L 4M41 (common-rail turbo diesel)

Look for: EGR gas mixes with PCV oil mist causing heavy carbon buildup in intake.

If you find it: Walnut blast clean. Catch can fitment helps.
